º Gayuma º

During high school when I was still active in the Days With the Lord, my biggest treat would be this cozy restaurant near Ateneo. The first time I tried it, I knew that this will be forever part of my MUST TRY restaurants in Metro Manila. Even their sisig back then was very delicious! It certainly lives up to the restaurant's name, "magagayuma" ka sa pagkain [you will be charmed with their food like you're in a love spell]. Despite the distance and crazy traffic, I was determined to go to this restaurant. Unfortunately, their branch near Ateneo closed down. Finally after my long awaited craving it has opened again BUT in a different location. I brought my boyfriend and a friend to make them experience what "Gayuma" is all about. One thing i love about this place besides its at home feel is how they label their food...

I recommended Rock Me Baby! (P 195.00)
It's hickory pork ribs served with mashed potatoes.

Bold
I love you, cross my heart (P 195.00)
Chicken breast fillet topped with cheese, mushroom, and asparagus

and for dessert: Beats Sexy Anyday (P 75.00)
Rich chocolate cake topped with butterscotch cream and chocolate bits.

They even sell 2nd hand raincoats, bags, and shoes!

Their 2nd floor is their anti-social place. Hahaha! I'm kidding. There are boardgames you and your friends can play with for free for a minimum purchase of P 350.00! Their tables include love spells you can experiment on for your crush! ENJOY xx

Gayuma "where just a taste is never enough...we seek not only to tempt, we seek to please."

Signing off.

º Banapple º

Banapple is one of the hottest restaurants in Katipunan creating a buzz about their affordable and great food and desserts. I've heard nothing but good adjectives about this place. It's a tiny restaurant that can hold 20 people maximum. Bannapple got its name from its two best sellers: Bannoffie Pie & Apple Caramel Crumble. But since I can't stuff myself with both, I had the make the hardest choice: TO CHOOSE ONE.

Dark chocolate on top, cream, peanut butter, cookie crust, banana = Banoffee pie! (P 80.00 per slice)

A perfectly mouth watering moment. You won't get disappointed.❤

And for lunch...

Some RIBS L
❤VING!

Their ribs was over the top! Serving was quite big at a very affordable price of P 180.00. They took of the bones out already making it easier to eat and I'm serious when i say it melts on your mouth!!!

Kindly check their website for more information.

I overheard a regular saying he can't even finish his buffalo coz their Nuclear was SO hot!!! =P~

Buffalo Cheese Burger with Fries & Iced Tea for ONLY P 234.00

HEAVEN SENT.
It's three mini burgers that's absolutely yummy you won't regret it.

º Crave Burger º

Stuck in traffic on the way to Trinoma, I haven't eaten the whole day. And boy was I on hunger strike. We passed by our shortcut in Corinthians and promised myself that I'd stop over the next restaurant I'd see. TADA! Crave Burger to the rescue. And so I thought.

We didn't have electricity the whole day due to the typhoon and felt a little lucky to find a place that wasn't too crowded, with air conditioning, and a flat screen TV to temporarily entertain us while we wait for our order: Crave Ultimate Burger (P 180.00) , Crave Double-Double Burger Meal ( + Drink is P 155.00 UP SIZE P 10.00), Twister Fries (P 80.00), & Blue Lemonade.

Double double burger <3

Their Ultimate Burger, 100% beef patty with caramelized onions, bacon, & American cheese.

Don't miss their fries that's made out of real potatoes.
Their twister fries wasn't a disappointment although it was pretty pricey P 80.00!

Their signature drinks which is outsourced all the way from Australia.

The verdict? Their burger was quite pepper-y and too flavorful that I wasn't able to finish my burger in one seating. Their serving is huge! Their Blue Lemonade helped me from my "umay" for some time but one up sized drink wasn't enough. I was more enthusiastic about their Twister Fries and their unlimited condiments. It was JUST okay but I'd honestly go for McDonald's Double Cheese Burger or Army Navy! :|

º Chicboy º

Eating at Chicboy (in short for: Chicken & Baboy)at 112 Jupiter St., Bel-Air, Makati felt like I was back in Cebu again. Hearing that they offered Cebu liempo made me go gaga and stuck on a Wednesday morning traffic made me want it so badly. It was nearly fatal. I felt like a 5 year old kid begging her mother to buy her candies, only this time I’m 20ish longing for Liempo. Finding a quality and “perfect” Lechon Cebu in Manila seem rare, nothing can compare to that very tender and the right amount of saltiness you’d find in Lechon Cebu, in fact, even Anthony Bourdain agrees!

The place had an al fresco dining and an enclosed area, it looked similar to Mang Inasal (Jupiter St.). They had that unlimited rice and offered Chicken Inasal as well. But I knew what I came there for: 1 whole Lechon liempo (P 155.00), plain rice (P 10.00), “Siningang na Salmon” ( P49.00), with bottomless iced tea ( P 25.00). Serving time? 15 minutes. Now for the taste test…

One word: PUUUR-FECTION. Their Lechon liempo was quite big and may be able to serve 2-3 persons. And their sinigang na salmon wasn’t a disappointment as well. The fish was well cooked and it had that “asim” from the mashed tomato. And in addition to that, pour some of that chicken oil and garlic bits on your rice. Very Filipino, so scrumptious!

Don’t let the name fool you, "Great food...fast!".

º Rufo's Famous Tapa º

Want a casual Filipino dining that's open and delivers 24/7? This restaurant is a crowd favorite, try Rufo's Famous Tapa! Me and my friends went to Makati & found out that they've renovated the place. The interior improved so much & in addition to that, they have added an enclosed air conditioned area which looked like a typical all American diner.

I've always loved Rufo's Special Tapa and thinking about it never makes me fail not to salivate like crazy! Everyone would crave and order their house specialty at any time of the day. Who wouldn't want to eat that tender slice of Batangas beef with garlic fried rice and sunny side-up egg? And that special Famous sauce which gives it that extra deliciousness that makes Rufo's tapa so popular and the best among the rest!

The infamous Rufo's Famous Tapa (P 89.00)

Its sauce is very Filipino. Just the right combination of sweet & salty and at the same time it compliments the taste of the beef. In fact, their Special sauce has become very popular, the restaurant uses it at its tag line: "Sauce pa lang, ulam na." Although I must say, their portion has become smaller over the years but it still has that same delightful taste Filipinos have been coming back for more!

º Miraj Persian Grill º

While strolling around Aguirre Ave., Better Living, Parañaque I came across a Mediterranean restaurant called Miraj Persian Grill only to find out that it's so much better than Mr. Kebab and Shawarma Center! The perfect food trip place after a late night drinking with friends. Yes people, it's open until 3:30 AM. Miraj offers a very affordable, wide, and quality Mediterranean food with a little twist!

Now it's time to order: Special Kebab chicken and beef (P 130.00), Ox brain, (P 70.00) and bottomless red iced tea ( P 50.00) please! After 10 minutes of waiting time, dinner was served.

The beef and chicken kebab was really tasteful: moist, perfectly cooked, and that smokey grilled taste! No need to drown your plate with garlic sauce because the taste of the chicken and meat can stand alone. It also came with a "salsa", diced tomato and cilantro that really complimented the dish. And unlike other Mediterranean Chelo kebab, it didn't come with rice and butter but rather with Persian rice with the right amount of curry! Not over powering the kebab, just right.

The Ox brain was extraordinary. I've had ox brain on both restaurant I mentioned earlier. Miraj's version of Ox brain included a dash of Turmeric which balanced its richness. It was filling and very appetizing!

MUST. TRY. :)

Spending cost: P 250.00

Miraj Persian Grill is located at 122A Aguirre Ave., BF Homes, Parañaque, Metro Manila, Philippines

º Lester's Chicken Chicken º

For those studying in La Salle or CSB Lester's Chicken Chicken has been a part of their daily "tipid" meal. And being a former DLSU student, eating there again after how many years made me reminisce about my college days. You can never go wrong in this "karinderya" along Estrada Street even with only P 150.00 in your wallet.

A highly recommended meal is their signature dish chicken with rice ( P 77.00) with your choice of soft drink in can ( P 29.00) and of course, their special sweet and tangy chicken sauce that makes the young and old come back for more!
Nothing is pre-cooked, fried only when ordered. With one meal, it already includes four delicious pieces of chicken with rice--very affordable.

Their chicken is soft on the inside and crispy and garlic-y on the outside.

Their "special" chicken sauce.

The downside? you really can't be too picky with the ambiance, it's higher than a "karinderya" but lower than a fast food restaurant: clean but very plain. Plain meaning: white walls and white floor. They have an open area for those customers who wants to smoke and an enclosed air conditioned area. Their furniture is composed of plastic tables and chairs and everything is self-service. They have a table which includes the silver utensils you find in a "karinderya", condiments, tissue, etc. Also, they have no sign or banner on the outside, so when you're not really familiar with the Taft area, you'll have a very difficult time looking for Lester's. The restaurant doesn't have a wide selection of food...but why ask for more when you have one meal that would more than satisfy your palette?

Check out their menu.

Lester's Chicken Chicken is located at 1079 Estrada Street, Manila, Philippines.

Total spending: P 106.00

º Army Navy º

"What will it be today? Burger...burrito...or both?"

I got to figure out why a lot of my friends go gaga about Army Navy. And with only P250.00, the b-on a budget it ready to go. Off to Glorietta 5, Makati! ;)

The menu is so simple but was so difficult to choose since most of the meals fit my budget but I eventually opted for the Classic Burger, a single quarter pounder patty with extra bacon PLEASE!(P 135.00 + P 25.00), Freedom Fries (P 60.00), and Liberte (P 55.00). And after 20 minutes of waiting time, my burger came wrapped in aluminum foil.

My first bite was heavenly! I love that they put black sesame seeds on their soft burger buns (which is a first by the way), the patty was very tender and full flavored, the lettuce was really crisp as promised, and those huge onions that gave it that extra delicious kick! Their Freedom fries on the other hand, reminded me of KFC fries and Mc Donald's Twister Fries combined: Yummy, indeed. Their own Iced Tea version, Libertea, neutralized the saltiness of the fries and richness of the burger. ;)

Black sesame seeds on the bun, who would've thought it would be this good?

The additional bacon was unnecessary!

Over all, the experience was filled with so much pleasure! Despite the lack of customer service from their staff, i was really fond of the structure of the restaurant which looked like a bomb shelter that matched the theme of the restaurant, their unlimited condiments especially that garlic-y burrito sauce that's to die for, and that unforgettable meal for only P 275.00!

The burrito sauce is excellent (an understatement, by the way.)

Total spending: P275.00
